UK PM Boris Johnson promised to furrow on in spite of two "extreme" by-political race routs - brought about by shamed Tory MPs stopping - sparking the acquiescence of the Conservative party executive.
In his renunciation letter, Oliver Dowden told Johnson Tory allies are "troubled and frustrated by recent occasions" and that "we can't continue with the same old thing. Someone should take responsibility".
Talking 4,000 miles away in Rwanda at a Commonwealth culmination, Johnson demanded he would "pay attention to the electors", yet that it would be "insane" for him to stop.
