Former US VP Al Gore says the world is at a “positive tipping point” in climate activism, citing Washington’s Inflation Reduction Act, Australia’s pledge to reduce carbon emissions 43% by 2030, and hope that Brazil and China will follow suit.
The Generation Investment Management co-founder admitted concern over some countries turning to fossil fuels to alleviate the energy crisis, claiming “there is no such thing as clean fossil fuel.”
His company’s latest sustainability report claims annual investments in clean energy were on track to pass $1 trillion in the next few years - but it is still not enough to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees above pre-industrial levels.
