The US Justice Department has made allegations against Chinese nationals, including three who worked for Beijing’s state security agency, accusing them of recruiting spies in the US using fake think tanks.(RT)
American university professors and former law enforcement agents were reportedly targeted by the Institute of International Studies at the Ocean University of China.
Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco described the institute as a front for Chinese intelligence, which played in “harassment, obstruction of our justice system, and unceasing efforts to steal sensitive US technology.”
Court filings claim one of the indictment’s targets, Wang Lin, conducted clandestine activities for Beijing in the US for almost two decades.
