Fire rages in residential building at crash site of Su-30 aircraft in Irkutsk

 


Eyewitnesses filmed a fire that broke out after the Su-30 military fighter jet crashed in a residential area of Irkutsk, on Sunday.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations' press service, the fighter plane fell on a two-storey residential house during the test flight, causing fire at the area of 200 square metres. Open flames have reportedly already been extinguished.

According to Irkutsk Region Governor Igor Kobzev, both pilots died in the crash, while no locals were injured.

Governor added that after the crash 150 houses in the city were disconnected from the electrical power source. All houses were reconnected to the power supply two hours later.
