SAD! "Human Avalanche" Kills 9 at Guatemalan Independence Festival

At least two children are among those confirmed dead on Thursday after a human stampede left another 20 concert-goers injured at the Xelafer music festival in Quetzaltenango - celebrating 201 years of independence from Spain.

Witnesses reported waves of people entering the building, not knowing that security had sealed off the exits. "There were children. Several bodies were seen lying. The concert was still going on…[there were] desperate people trying to revive family or friends," one told Stereo 100.
