Consumer prices, corporate earnings to watch this week

A number of major companies, including Walt Disney, Activision Blizzard, Occidental, Take Two, Ralph Lauren, AstraZeneca and meme stock AMC, are due to report earnings this week.

On Tuesday, the US midterm election results will be released, followed by the more important US CPI report on Thursday. Traders will be watching for indications of price pressure cooling. Central banks are also expected to speak at various events throughout the week.

Other notable events include the delisting of Twitter's stock from the New York Stock Exchange and EU regulators' deadline to announce a deeper investigation into Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

Finishing out the week will be the latest in initial and continuing jobless claims, as well as the University of Michigan's consumer sentiment index.
